Jack Gillotte for Common Council, Ward 1

Jack Gillotte is a local small business owner, Balloons Etc., and is a third generation Danbury resident.  He attended WCSU Ancell School of Business, is a member of the Danbury Jaycees, a two time past president, receiving awards and honors as a Statesman, Ambassador and Senator.  He is married to Susan Mazzucco.

Larry Jansons is a local mortgage broker.  He graduated from WCSU, is a member of the Fair Rent Commission and has lived in the area fro 25 years.

Ken is a self-employed auto restorer with a degree from WCSU.  He has lived in Danbury for sixteen years and is committed to protecting the City from over-development.

Paul is a former Common Council member for the second ward and would like to continue his service to the people.  He is a career member and president of King Street Fire Company.  He was born and raised in Danbury.

Jim Kelly has lived in Danbury for 30 years. Jim is an environmental engineer and founded his own company in 1982, Airflow Laboratory Services on Beaver Brook Road.  Jim served as a member of the Common Council from 2001 to 2003. In 2002, Jim mobilized over 200 3rd Ward residents over a zone change in the Germantown area that was finally rejected by the Zoning Commission. In contrast, the current 3rd Ward Councilmen did nothing when Springside Avenue was the proposed site for a new Dunkin Donuts franchise.       Jim is dedicated to serving the needs and interests of Danbury residents. He’ll make sure that you’re informed about issues that affect you.  He‘ll be an advocate for preserving open space , farmland and Candlewood Lake’s shoreline. Lynn Taborsak for Common Council, Ward 3

Born and raised in Danbury, Lynn served 4 terms in the State Legislature representing the 109th District. In 2005, Lynn was elected to serve on the Common Council at large. Lynn knows that our city faces many challenges in meeting the needs of Danbury residents and she’s not afraid to ask questions or to speak her mind. Lynn thinks Council members need a strong commitment to our community – not just a strong commitment to the current Mayor!

John Esposito for Common Council, Ward 4

John is a longtime Common Council member and legislative leader.  He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a retired postal worker, past Commander of the VFW and a member of the Wooster Hose Volunteer Fire Company and the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge.

Councilman Tom Saadi is currently serving his fourth term on the Danbury Common Council and was elected by the Democratic Caucus as their Minority Leader. He has served as Chairman of many major Council Committees addressing issues ranging from municipal water safety, neighborhood blight, to the placement of heart defibrillators in public buildings. Tom also serves as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Connecticut in Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.

Councilman Saadi, a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG), has been a leader on addressing issues affecting Veterans, Service Members and their families. He led the successful effort to pass a Council Resolution supporting greater tax relief for veterans and then lobbied for passage of Public Act 03-44 allowing municipalities to provide greater property tax relief to veterans.

Tom has consistently opposed municipal tax giveaways to big corporate developers which burden residential tax payers with the bill for these corporate perks. Tom continues to push for greater funding for our Police and Fire Departments and for new laws to stop growing neighborhood nuisances.

Tom is active with many civic and social organizations in Danbury as well as with the Connecticut Bar Association where he serves as Co-chairman of the Government and Military Committee. In 2003 Tom received the Connecticut Law Tribune’s "Impact Award" for his service to the Bar and the community at large.


Duane Perkins for Common Council, Ward 5

Duane Perkins has a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and received his MBA from the University of Bridgeport.  He is a ten year college professor at the Naugatuck Valley Community College.

 

 


Fred Visconti for Common Council, Ward 5

Fred has served on the Danbury Common Council for over four years, originally to fill a vacant position and then elected in 2003.  He is a former vice President of the Danbury Youth Commission, has been on the Danbury Airport Commission for ten years and was Vice Chair.  He is a lifelong member of St. Peters Church and a 40 year member of Wooster Hose Volunteer Fire Company, # 5.

 
Among his many other qualifications:
  • He is a retired Firefighter/Communications Supervisor (30yrs.)
  • He structured the present 911 system for the City of Danbury
  • He is a lifelong Danbury resident

Benjamin Chianese for Common Council, Ward 6

Ben is a current 6th ward council representative.  He is a CPA practicing in Danbury, a retired staff sergeant Army National Guard, receiving the Army Commendation Medal for Achievement.  He is a former chairman of the EIC, the treasurer of Amos House and a member of St. Peter's Church and the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge.

Cortez White for Common Council, Ward 7

Cortez says, "I Believe in Danbury and our community." A 51 year old Connecticut Judicial Branch Administrator and member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Cortez White is also a Danbury Elementary School mentor and member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was born in Chicago and moved his family here from Stamford in 1982. Married to a Danbury Elementary School teacher, they have one child, Kendall, a 20 year old student. 

Cortez is a member of the Danbury Chapter of the NAACP, a volunteer with youth Basketball since 1990 and has served as the D.A.Y.O. Basketball program Commissioner since 1998.

Manuel Bataguas for Common Council at large

Manny Bataguas is a graduate of the University of Hartford.  He is the owner of One Stop Travel on Main Street, he has a translation service, publishes the Immigrant Newspaper and own Jeans Emporium.  Manny is also a member of the Portuguese Cultural Commission.

 


Manny Furtado for Common Council at large

Manny Furtado is a past member of the Common Council and wants to continue the work he began.  He is a superintendent at the Branford Wastewater Treatment Plant, a member of the Portuguese Cultural Center, a member of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Danbury Environmental Impact Commission.

John Gogliettino was a member of the Common Council from 1999 to 2003 and a member of the EIC from 1991 to 1999.  He is currently active in the community with organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, Danbury youth Services, the Hispanic Center, American Vespucci and St. Peter's church.  He is the host sponsor of a weekly show "Community Forum: on Comcast Cable since 1997.


Theresa Lavelle for Common Council at large

Theresa Lavelle has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport.  She is a Danbury resident for 17 years and says, "My passion is teaching elementary school children."

Warren Levy owns Danbury Metal Finishing in Danbury.  He is a former Common Council representative and president.  He is a US Navy veteran and is active in the Danbury community through his many commitments including, the Danbury Lions (officer), the Salvation Army (VP), and the Portuguese Cultural Center, as wells as being a member of the CT State Fireman's Association and the Fairfield County Fire Chiefs.


William Melillo for Common Council at large

Bill Melillo graduated from Danbury High Schooll and served the citizens of Danbury as a police officer, retiring in 2002 at the rank of Captain.  He is married to Shirley and they have lived in Danbury since 1963.
